Topic 21: Common Myths About Artificial Intelligence

By Glenda Hartman · May 21, 2026

There are many misunderstandings about AI. Some people see it as a threat, while others believe it can solve almost every workplace problem instantly.

One common myth is that AI “thinks” exactly like humans. In reality, AI analyses patterns and data but does not possess human understanding, emotions, or consciousness.

Another myth is that AI will replace all jobs. While some roles may change significantly, many jobs will still require human communication, judgement, creativity, and relationship-building.

Some people also believe AI always produces accurate information. In reality, AI systems can generate incorrect or misleading responses and still require careful review.

Understanding what AI can and cannot do helps organisations use technology more responsibly and realistically.
