Topic 24: Cybersecurity Risks Associated With AI Tools

By Glenda Hartman · May 24, 2026

AI tools can improve productivity, but they may also create cybersecurity risks if used carelessly.

Employees may unknowingly:

  • share confidential information,
  • upload sensitive documents,
  • use unsecured platforms,
  • or rely on fake AI applications designed to steal information.

Cybercriminals are also using AI to create more convincing phishing emails, scams, and fraudulent communication.

Organisations therefore need strong cybersecurity awareness alongside AI adoption.

This may include:

  • staff training,
  • secure systems,
  • clear workplace policies,
  • and responsible technology practices.

Technology can improve efficiency, but security and confidentiality must remain priorities.
